June 20 Races Canceled, 2020 Season Will Begin With July 11 Firecracker 100
Redwood Acres Raceway officials are sad to announce the cancelation of the June 20 race due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The event was scratched after conferring with Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich. It is the fourth race of the 2020 season that has been forced to cancelation.
While the loss of the June 20 race is a sad one, Dr. Frankovich has given the green light for racing to begin at the Acres on July 11. This means that the 2020 season will start with what has become the biggest race of the summer at Redwood Acres Raceway, the Firecracker 100 featuring the late models.
All five local divisions will also be in action including the Legends, mini stocks, bombers, Bandoleros and roadrunners. It is not yet known if fans will be able to attend the event. Out-of-town race teams will be allowed to compete and a food vendor will be in the pits for the event. Further information including safety guidelines for social distancing will be released soon. A test and tune has been scheduled for July 10.
Redwood Acres Raceway officials would like to sincerely thank everyone for their continued patience and support though what has been a difficult and disappointing time.
