Redwood Acres Raceway Season Only A Month Away
The countdown to the start of the 2022 season for Redwood Acres Raceway is quickly coming to a close. Drivers and teams are making their final preparations to their cars to ensure that they are race-ready for the season opening event on Saturday April 30, the Rhododendron 100. Many familiar faces will return while there will be some new faces both on and off the race track.
One new face that fans will see regularly will be that of Redwood Acres Raceway’s new flagman, Johnny Miskill. He will be taking over for Bill Middleton who decided to retire from flagging races and will return to racing in RAR’s bomber division. While Miskill will be a new regular, he is not unfamiliar to Redwood Acres Raceway. Those with a keen eye will recognize him from his time serving as the flag man for the North State Modified Series, a job that he has had since the series’ inception. Miskill has over 40 years of experience in racing throughout many facets including as a driver, crew member and race official. Track officials are thrilled to have Miskill’s experience on the stand and race fans, particularly younger ones will enjoy watching the veteran do his thing on the stand throughout the season.
A practice date has been scheduled for Friday April 29 for those wanting track time closer to race day. Practice will run from 2:00 – 7:00 PM. Because of the continuing tire shortage that is impacting short track racing across the country, raceway officials are strongly urging late model drivers wanting to participate in the Rhododendron 100 to get their entries in as soon as possible. The $150 entry fee for the car and driver can be purchased on RacinTheAcres.com. Tickets for the race can also be bought on the website as well.
